FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WA2S Films Announces “Dogs of San Antonio: An Open Forum 3” Featuring Raymond Najera at Brooster’s Backyard Ice House - An Investigation into the Ramon Najera Tragedy and San Antonio’s Animal Infrastructure to be Filmed for the Feature Documentary “Unleashed” SAN ANTONIO, TX – The World Animal Awareness Society (WA2S) will host “Dogs of San Antonio: An Open Forum 3” (DOSA AOF 3) on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Brooster’s Backyard Ice House. This public forum serves as a critical deep dive into the systemic failures and community trauma following the brutal February 2023 dog mauling that claimed the life of an American hero. The event features Raymond Najera, the son of 81-year-old Air Force veteran Ramon Najera. On February 24, 2023, Ramon Najera was killed, and his wife, Juanita, was severely injured in an unprovoked attack by two dogs that had escaped a neighbor’s yard. The forum marks nearly three years since the tragedy, tracing the timeline from that fatal day through the historic 2024 sentencing of the dog owners to the current legislative fight for the “Ramon Najera Act.” The program will begin with an intimate, hour-long interview between Tom McPhee, Executive Director of WA2S, and Raymond Najera. This will be followed by a moderated Q&A and an open forum, inviting the San Antonio community to speak and share their experiences. “If you believe you can make a difference in San Antonio, or if you simply need to understand the reality of what happened to Ramon Najera, you need to be in this room,” said Tom McPhee, Director of the documentary Unleashed: The Dogs of San Antonio. “This is a clinical investigation into why dangerous dogs were returned to the streets and what must change to ensure no other family suffers this preventable fate.” Event Details:
The event is free and open to the public. Residents who have been affected by loose or dangerous dogs are encouraged to attend and share their stories on camera. |
