LAST CHANCE RESCUE Stories From The Devoted Barn
Blind 2 Day Old Rescued #Cow Thinks She's A #Dog!
Season 1 Episode 6

Melissa Borden, founder of The Devoted Barn in Newport, MI answered a request by Dianne Cook of Cook's Dairy in Portland, Mi to help provide a new life for a 2 day old blind calf.

Anyone who knows Melissa, knows that she cannot pass up helping a blind calf.  And there is almost no one else for farmers to turn to.

After Tom Cook made sure Grace had her RFID tag for transport, Melissa and Grace make their way back to The Devoted Barn, where Grace will become Hope, the tri-pedal cow's, stall mate.

Birth Defect Puppy Poops Everywhere Has Life Saved!
Season 1 Episode 4

On this episode of LCR Melissa and Ava, along with trusty companion Ruger, travel 7 hours to Kentucky to meet with a transporter.

The transporter is delivering a couple months old French Mastiff puppy that had been turned in to a veterinarians office in Tennessee who had been asked to terminate the puppy because no one would want him.

The reason?

The puppy had a birth defect and the initial diagnosis was stenosis of the spine.  This fun-loving energetic puppy is unable to control any potty function.  It is as if she is a leaky balloon.  She cannot help it.  And, at least as the breeder thought, no one would want this dog, and we do not want to put any more money into this property that will not pay us back - so let's just kill it.

This is where The Devoted Barn come in.  And why we know them as the LAST CHANCE RESCUE!

Watch the whole video so you can see what almost happened.  You'll get to see this beautiful puppy - now named Cami as she goes to get x-rays at the Vet.

Melissa Borden Saves 2 Skinny Mardi Gras Parade Horses!

2 Abused Skinny Mardi Gras Parade Horses Saved!

Letter To The Editor of NOLA.com:

I was surprised to learn that some of the horses used in Mardi Gras parades each year are purchased just for the event, and then left to uncertain fates. The disposable nature of Mardi Gras beads has sparked a controversy, but treating living beings with, quite literally, the same disregard as a throw should not even be a debate. We can and must do better for Louisiana's horses. *end*

That is the fate of so many of these horses after Mardi Gras.

Follow WA2S Films cameras as we document Melissa Borden founder of The Devoted Barn animal sanctuary, and world-renown animal rescuer as she travels to St. Landry Parish, Louisiana to save the lives of a couple of thrown away horses.

Pay particularly close attention to the short intermission with the piglets, Andy and Nugget.  You won't want to miss them!

Our Amazing Great Feral Sheep Rescue

On this episode of LAST CHANCE RESCUE Stories From The Devoted Barn, WA2S Films cameras follow Melissa Borden and her crew of; Casey, Julie, Ava, and Brooke as they attempt to rescue a feral sheep that has been reported to the Barn Family roaming around Gobles, MI for months..

Try, try, try, and try again.  That is the motto of Melissa and the team.  If at first you don't succeed, well you know the rest...

This video shows the effort that goes into helping every animal The Devoted Barn rescues.

It took 3 days of driving 5 hours round trip and working for hours to gain this sheep's trust.  This sheep is now named Van.  Van the sheep.

Some times, rescuing an animal is only about patience and gaining the animals trust.  In this instance, Melissa brought some of her other girl sheep to help convince Van to come home with them.
